No Spam Spam includes:
- multiple posts that say the same thing. These will be deleted by staff
- starting multiple topics about the same thing. Staff will condense these under one topic. and the poster(s) will be warned that their activities count as spam
- posting off topic
- advertising products or services without prior permission
Spammers will be warned that their activities violate this rule. Repeated spamming will result in a ban, either permanent or temporary.
Be Respectful Treat others with dignity and respect. This is mostly common sense; it goes both ways, so treat others as you wish to be treated. Debate and discussion is welcome and encouraged, flaming is not. Please keep personal differences off of the board and in private channels only. Also please do not expect staff to mediate personal disputes. Staff should only be contacted if there is concern about specific private messages, chat logs (from our IRC channel only), and posts. Please note, there is a button beneath each post that will allow you to report it as a potentially problematic one. Feel free to use this if you are concerned about certain posts. If you are or feel physically threatened by anyone through the chat or board, please *do* contact the staff immediately.
If you must rant, please do so in the oubliette and refrain from personal attacks against board members. Also note that physical threats against any member of the Other Haven community will result in immediate, permanent banning. Back to top
Stay On Topic This is self explanatory for the most part. If the conversation tends to drift, the staff will issue a warning. We realise that good discussions often branch into other meaningful areas. In such cases, the topic will be split and a new thread started. No Advertising Commerical Advertising is Prohibited. Advertising of other forums, web boards or chat systems is also prohibited Back to top
Minors The Other Haven Chat room, like the board, isto minors. Any attempts to engage minors (or any user who appears to be a minor) in illegal activities will result in a permanent ban from the server and a report to the relevent authorities. Back to top
Be Respectful No flaming, threats, personal attacks, harassment, and so forth. Please treat one another with respect. Failure to act decently will result in either a temporary or permanent ban. Back to top
Solicitation Other Haven is not an adult or sex site. Transmitting pornographic images and solicitating for adult activities (sex, phone sex, and so forth) is prohibited. Solicitation for cybersex in the main (public) channel will result in a kick. Repeated solicitation for cybersex made in the public channel, will result in a permanent ban. Requests made in private may be reported to the operators and/or admins at the user's discretion. Be aware that unwanted solicitations made in private may also constitute grounds for temporary or permanent ban, depending on the level of harassment. Back to top
Flooding/Colours/Spam Flooding is not allowed anywhere. Excessive use of colours and scripts is not allowed in the main channel. If you want to play with these features, please do this in a private channel. Back to top
Respect for Operators Publically accusing operators of unfair behaviour, asking them to justify their actions, and/or publically arguing with them over their actions in the channel is sufficient reason for a kick or a ban. If you are concerned with an action made by an operator, please contact an administrator via email and/or discuss it privately with the operator in question. Back to top
Hacking Attempts to hack into or disrupt the functioning of the chat server will result in immediate permanent banning from both chat and the board. Back to top
Idling Idling is discouraged, but if you choose to remain idle in the channel for more than five hours, you must change your nickname to state that you are away. Failure to do so may result in a kick. The only exceptions to this are the staff, who may remain idle without changing their nicknames. Back to top
